Program Description

UC San Diego Health's ANCC PTAP-accredited (with distinction) Nurse Residency Program operates at two sites: Hillcrest Medical Center and Jacobs Medical Center/Sulpizio Cardiovascular Center (La Jolla). Two cohorts are offered per year with March and September start dates. Job postings go live approximately five months before each start date. The program includes six months of core didactic classes, specialty unit classes, a minimum three-month precepted clinical orientation, and formal mentorship through MentorLead. Virtual recruitment webinars are held in April and October. UC benefits include generous PTO, 14 paid holidays, and 40 hours of paid education time annually.

Requirements

Active California RN license required 4 weeks before program start (no interim permits). BLS from AHA required. Less than 6 months of paid RN employment experience at program start. Nursing degree (ASN, BSN, or MSN) conferred no more than 18 months prior to program start. Commitment to 2 years full-time employment after residency completion.
